A captain's job is to take full responsibility.
The role of a captain can be described in a few words: "to take full responsibility as the chief officer of the ship.
It is the captain's responsibility to protect the lives of all crew members, the safety of cargo, and the property of the so-called company.
The captain is responsible for making the final decision and giving instructions to the officers and crew for safe navigation, safe operations, and ship management.

During the voyage
In addition to the above, there are other duties to be performed during the voyage, such as checking e-mails, communicating with the next port agent, ordering food, checking order forms, and keeping track of cargo schedules.
Of course, there are times when I stand on the bridge during congested waters or narrow waterways.
But it's not every day that I get the chance to do so, and other than that, I spend my time freely.
I spend my free time cleaning my room, doing laundry, taking naps, strength training, cooking, making snacks, taking long baths… I enjoy my free time like this.
Recently, I've been teaching cooking to the cooks, and I've also been cooking my own food and serving it to customers and company staff.
Of course, the food is very well received.
While in port
When we are in port, I mainly deal with visitors, but since it's mainly during the daytime on weekdays, I can't do much else.
On Saturdays and Sundays, I spend my free time shopping, eating out, going to the health spa, etc., just like the people on land.

Tuna Work Period
It may vary depending on the captain, but in my case, I mainly participate in the work by operating the winch.
I tend to finish my work in the afternoon, so it's not so different from when I'm at sea.
I have to monitor the crew to make sure there are no accidents or injuries that may occur due to a lack of attention.
If necessary, I give instructions to the officers.
In addition, we are always aware of the situation around us so that we can act quickly in case of sudden changes in the weather during operations.
On vacation
I use my long vacation days, which are unique to sailors, to train for and participate in bodybuilding competitions.
We also take trips to Hokkaido and other places where we invite our crew members.
As mentioned above, I command and supervise the officers to ensure safe navigation and work.
As a Seaman, you will have to deal with the stress of being on a small ship.
I hope that each of you will find your own way to make your seaman's life more fulfilling.
